What's New in NearCoM?
Newberger P.A. and J.S. Allen, 2007, Forcing a three-dimensional, hydrostatic, primitive-equation model for application in the surf zone: 1. Formulation, J. Goeophys. Res., , Vol. 112, C08018, doi:10.1029/2006JC003472
Shi F., Kirby J. T., and Hanes, D., 2007, "An efficent mode-splittig method for a curvilinear nearshore circulation model", Coastal Engineering, doi:10.1016/j.coastaleng.2007.05.009, download pdf
The NearCoM model is extended for far-field applications in the multi-scale modeling project in USGS. In the application to San Francisco Bight and Ocean Beach, NearCoM integrates three modules: 1) SWAN for wave generation and propagation; 2) SHORECIRC for prediction of tidal current, wind-induced current and wave-induced nearshore circulation; and 3) H-H type sediment module for prediction of sediment transport and morphology change.
