Suggestions for research projects
Investigation of relative efficiency of various numerical solutions of the dispersion relation for linear water waves.
One person
Extending an existing time-dependent mild-slope equation solver to include the terms related to rapidly varying depth.
Probably two people
Constructing a visualization of the surface pattern for intersecting wave trains of slightly different frequencies.
One person
Visualization of various wave diffraction phenomena. Diffraction by cylinders, semi-infinite or segmented breakwaters, etc.
Several people - each concentrating on one item.
Solving the linear wave boundary value problem by a series solution - modern extensions of Boussinesq theory
One person
